Original Description

Test small, trochoid, rounded, dorsal side a low trochospiral, ventral side involute. Two whorls, growth formula 3-4. Chambers round, tightly appressed. Sutures linear, slightly depressed. Aperture arcuate, interiomarginal. Wall coarsely perforate, thin, calcareous.

Shell structure with large pores is atypical for Jurassic or Eary Cretaceous plnaktonic frormainifera and lead to description of a new genus for it - Compactogerina Simmons et al. 1997. 

This species is disussed at length in Gradstein 2017, who suggest that it is likely that the species was based on the Neogene species Neogloboquadrina pachyderma, possibly due to sample contaminaton.
