Type repository: Alexandria; Geology Department, Faculty of Science, Alexandria University, Alexandria, Egypt.
Original Description "Test free. relatively small; early stage slightly trochospiral, adult stage tending to uncoil. becoming slightly evolute with chambers nearly, but imperfectly. planispiral; umbilicus narrow on ventral side, very shallow on spiral side; equatorial periphery trapezoid in outline, lobulate; axial periphery rounded. Chamber globular. becoming subglobular in adult stage, arranged in about 3 whorls. early chambers very small, the 5 chambers of the last whorl increase rapidly in size. Sutures distinct, curved, depressed. Wall calcareous, perforate. finely pitted. Aperture interiomarginal, umbilical-extraumbilical, crescentic bordered with a lip. Size: Maximum diameter of holotype 0.28 mm. Etymology: Extra details from original publication "Remarks. - In spite of the imperfect planispiral arrangement of the chambers in the last whorl of the test of this described type and the umbilical-extraumbilical, but non-equatorial position of its aperture, yet it is more related to the genus Hastigerina Thomson rather than to GloborotaLoides Bolli. The latter genus does not show any tendency of planispirality. This described new type is regarded as a primitive species of Hastigerina which had not attained the stage of the perfect planispiral arrangement of its chambers and the equatorial position of the aperture. These characters distinguish Hastigerina primitiva El-Shinnawi from the other known allied species." Editors' Notes
