Original Description No description given - this was a new name, so the description was that of Rhumbler. Extra details from original publication Hastigerinella rhumbleri n. sp.=Hastigerina digitata Rhumbler, Foram. Plankton-Exped., pt. I, 1909 (1911), p. 202, pl. 37, figs. 9, 10. (Recent, Atlantic.) Not Globigerina digitata Brady, which is another species of Hastigerinella. Editors' Notes This was a new name for Hastigerina digitata Rhumbler - proposed on the grounds that if it was tranferred into Hastigerinella then it would be a junior homonym of H. digitata (Brady). See Banner (1965) for discussion, and rejection, of this suggestion.
