Taxonomic discussion: This species displays a wide morphological variability regarding (a) the number of chambers in the last whorl, from 4 to 6, (b) the degree of involution, (c) the presence of chamber bifurcation and, consequently, (d) the number of ampullae for each chamber. In particular, a wide range of intermediate morphotypes between the semiinvolute, pseudoplanispiral individuals and strongly involute, clearly trochospiral, extremely branched specimens is observed. Original description: Une espèce du genre Schakoina absolument caractéristique par le nombre de loges à deux épines et l'irregularité de ces épines, ainsi que par le nombre de loges au dernier tour, tous caractères qui la différencient de S. moliniensis REICHEL.
