Type locality: Fintinele village, near Valea Poienii, Maramures district, Romania.
Type age (chronostrat): Oligocene, uppermost Rupelian-lower Chattian, base of the Globorotalia opima Zone
Type sample (& lithostrat): lower Virna Formation. Occurs immediately above the last occurrence of Globorotalia ampliapertura, in a thin band of strata (5-10 m) which represents the uppermost occurrence of mixed Mediterranean and Paratethyan faunas.

Original Description
Test free, small to medium sized, involute, biumbilicate, compressed; peripheral margins rounded; peripheral outline lobate; chambers sphaerical, slightly elongated radial increasing gradual(ly] in size as added; sutures deep, distinct, radial; wall calcareous, finely perforated, with numerous base spines on the last two-four chambers; aperture equatorial, more or less arched, bordered by a distinct lip.

Extra details from original publication
This species is somewhat similar to Protentella clavaticamerata Jenkins, 1977, from which it differs in more dense perforation of the test, the high frequency of the base spine, the shape of the aperture (less arched) and less developed apertural lip.
