Remarks - Forms referable to this taxon have previously been recorded as Globorotalia anfracta Parker (Fig. 3: 22-24). The latter species, however, possesses more inflated chambers with a smooth, macroperforate wall (e.g., Bronnimann and Resig, 1971, pl. 43, figs. 2, 3, 6; pl. 48, fig. 4; Rogl and Bolli, 1973, pl. 8, figs. 1-7; Quilty, 1976, pl. 11, figs. 9, I 0; Poore, 1979, pl. 2, figs. 7-9). Robert L. Fleisher (written communication, 1986) has checked the holotype of G. anfracta and confirms this distinction. The distinct morphocharacters possessed by T. fleisheri, such as small size of the test, microperforate wall and pustulate surface, indicate that it is not Parker's taxon, but is a modem representative of Tenuitella. This species differs from all of the Oligocene-Miocene tenuitellines in having a compressed test, which is more densely pustulate on the early whorl and on the umbilical-apertural face. It seems to have evolved into the bullate Tenuitellita iota (Parker).
