Bucherina sandidgei

Classification: pf_mesozoic -> Rugoglobigerinidae -> Bucherina -> Bucherina sandidgei
Sister taxa: B. sandidgei, B. sp.

Taxonomy

Citation: Bucherina sandidgei Bronnimann & Brown 1956
taxonomic rank: Species
Basionym: Bucherina sandidgei
Taxonomic discussion: Bucherina sandidgei appears to be a late descendant of Archaeoglobigerina of which it differs mainly in the asymmetrical periphery and the presence of one peripheral keel. [copied from Chronos database]

Original description: Test low trochospiral, planoconvex in edge view, often presenting a shift in the axis of coiling in the adult stage. Outline subcircular to lobate, 5½ to 6 slowly increasing in size chambers in the final whorl. Sutures slightly curved depressed between the last formed chambers of the final whorl, slightly raised and lined with a row of pustules between the earlier chambers of the final whorl. Umbilical sutures depresed. Periphery truncated presenting a faint keel mostly developed on the earlier chambers of the final whorl. Chambers flattened dorsally and inflated on the umbilical side. Umbilical diameter approximately ¼ to ⅓ of the maximum test diameter. Main aperture interiomarginal, umbilical bordered bu a delicate tegilla, successive tegilla leaving both distal and proximal accessory apertures. Test surface presents scattered pustules and papillae lacking meridional arrangement.
