Original description: Wall macroperforate. Test low trochospiral, equatorial periphery lobate, lateral profile asymmetrical, spiral side from flat to weakly convex, umbilical side more convex, peripheral margin with two equidistant keels parallel to the coiling axis or weakly tilted towards the umbilical side and separated by a narrow and imperforate band. An apparent third keel is present due to the increase of the last chambers height on the umbilical side that results in an umbilical shoulder. Five to eight chambers in final whorl slowly increasing in size, trapezoidal, from flat to slightly inflated on the umbilical side, petaloid to slightly crescent-shaped chambers, smooth and flat on the spiral side; sutures raised from sigmoidal to curved on the umbilical side, curved and raised on the spiral side; primary aperture umbilical and covered by tegilla. Distinguished from G. linneiana ( = G. tricarinata) by having a trapezoidal instead of a rectangular peripheral margin, a narrower peripheral band and an apparent third keel that results in a weakly developed umbilical shoulder. Differs from G. ventricosa in having a more compressed peripheral outline and by possessing a less raised umbilical shoulder that develops only on the last chambers of the last whorl. Phylogenetic relationships. This form evolved from G. linneiana by increasing the height of the chambers on the umbilical side and by acquiring an apparent third keel on the peripheral view. It gave rise to G. ventricosa through the developing of the convexity of the umbilical side.
