Citation: Pseudoguembelina costellifera Masters 1976
taxonomic rank: Species
Basionym: Pseudoguembelina costellifera
Taxonomic discussion: Accessory apertures are not always developed in Psg. costellifera, they can be entirely absent even in adult forms, while other specimens have closed tube-like protrusions instead of accessory apertures [copied from Chronos database]

Original description: "Test biserial, laterally compressed, gradually expanding from initial end. Chambers 14-15 in number, slightly inflated, with tendency toward reniform shape in gerontic stage, earlier chambers wider than broad. Wall very finely perforate. Pores in single rows between costae. Surface finely and abundantly costate. Primary aperture narrow, moderatly arched. Accessory apertures on tubelike chamber extensions in interiosutural position of ephebic stage. Sutures of juvenile stage straight, normal to edge, but convex toward the aperture in adult."

The upper range of Psg. costellifera is based on observations by Nederbragt (1991) who shows the species ranging into the Globotruncanella havanensis Zone, with a dashed range into the Ga. gansseri Zone. If you have an published range extending into the mayaroensis Zone please send the publication with an illustrated specimen to

Zahra Tarash(Guyana)

Excusme I saw this species in A.mayaroensis zone. But here the LO is within G. gansseri zone.

What do you think?

Perhaps the range of this species is different in the area where you are working ( guess in Iran), but i do not have any special knowledge of the group - I will refer this question to Brian Huber.

thank you for telling us.
