Thalmanninella balernaensis

Classification: pf_mesozoic -> Rotaliporidae -> Thalmanninella -> Thalmanninella balernaensis
Sister taxa: T. appenninica, T. balernaensis, T. brotzeni, T. deeckei, T. evoluta, T. gandolfii, T. globotruncanoides, T. greenhornensis, T. micheli, T. praebalernaensis, T. reicheli, T. sp.

Taxonomy

Citation: Thalmanninella balernaensis (Gandolfi, 1957)
Taxonomic rank: species
Basionym: Globotruncana (Rotalipora) appenninica balernaensis Gandolfi, 1957
Taxonomic discussion: The cover-plate of P. balernaensis partially obstructs the umbilical depression. This species has a keel on all chambers, unlike P. praebalernaensis.

Original description: "Gandolfi's (1942, op. cit. p. 118) description of this form is herein amended as follows: 'Test rotaliform, large and thin, with a well developed single keel. Outline subcircular, tending to become elongated, spiral side slightly convex, umbilical side slightly concave. Chambers flat on dorsal side, convex on ventral side, becoming elongated. Umbilical sutures generally radial and depressed, thickening slightly around teh umbilicus'."
