Taxonomy

Citation: Thalmanninella brotzeni Sigal 1948
Taxonomic rank: species
Basionym: Thalmanninella brotzeni
Taxonomic discussion: The main aperture in extraumbilical to umbilical (Robaszynski and Caron, 1979) and not umbilical as originally described. The porticus of the main aperture may occasionally be perforate (see Lipson-Benitah et al., 1997). R. brotzeni and R. globotruncanoides are similar but not synonymous. The former species has a more inflated profile. In the latter species, the last-formed accessory aperture becomes sutural in position. R. brotzeni also differs from R. globotruncanoides in having less petaloid chamber on the spiral side, for its smaller size, and in possesssing a more biconvex profile.
