Original Description

Die kuglige, dünne Schale ist von regelmäßig kreisrunden Poren durchsetzt, die hexagonal gerahmt sind. 8-10 Poren auf einem Halbmeridian. Alle Poren ungefähr gleich groß. Die Poren etwa sechsmal so breit wie die Gitteräste. Von den sechs Knotenpunkten, die um eine Pore herum angeordnet sind, sind je drei miteinander abwechselnde mit Stacheln besetzt. Diese sind ziemlich kräftig und, da die drei in einem Punkt zusammenstoßenden Rahmenkanten sich auf sie fortsetzen, dreikantig pyramidal mit etwas hohlen Seitenflächen.

Shell diameter 74µm, pores 12µm. spines 20µm.

Distinguishing characters: Die Art steht Haeckels Acanthosphaera dentata am nächsten. Ihre Poren sind aber größer, die Gitteräste dünner. Radialstacheln erheben sich nicht von allen, sondern nur von der Hälfte der Knotenpunkte. Die Radialstacheln sind kürzer und nicht mit gesägten Kanten versehen.
