Original Description

Larcarida with two concentric latticed shells, all outer lentelliptical cortical shell, and an inner (spherical or lentelliptical) medullary shell, both connected by radial beams. Surface covered with radial spines.

Etymology:
From the Greek larcidium = little basket, diminutive of Larcus

Hello, thank you for your website, do you happen to know what are the metric for the size given ? for exemple the width of Larcidium dodecanthum is 0.14 i s it in mm or cm ?

HI Louise. Good to hear you are finding the site useful. The measurements here are from Haeckel 1887 and will be in mm.

it was a point someene else raised recently, so I have now added the text [dimensions in mm] after original descriptions from Haeckel 1887 which contain this sort of measurements.
