Size: (Dimensions: Based on 30 specimens from 266-18-3, 51-53cm.; 266-17-4, 50-52cm.; and 266-15-3, 50-52 cm.) Length of shell (excluding apical horn) 103-131µm. Maximum width of abdomen 102-113µm. Etymology: This species is named after Robert M. Goll in recognition of his valuable contributions to the field of radiolarian studies. Extra details from original publication Distinguishing characters: This species differs from Lophocyrtis regipileus Chen, n. sp., in having a more delicate thoracic wall and a wider abdomen, from Theocalyptra bicornis (Popofsky) in having an abdomen of more cylindrical shape. Editors' Notes Chen described this species twice - in IRDSDP vol 28 and Micropaleontology part 20/4. Both publications have cover dates of 1974 but actually were published in 1975 and the Micropaleontology volume is generally considered to be the valid publication. The images are typically the same in both, but the text is slighlty different. [JRY 2023]
