Original Description

sphaera ovato-oblonga laevis, nucleo medio nebuloso, poris parvis discretis irregulariter notata, nucleus incertus, utroque fine obtuse aculeato. Aculei duo oppositi, unus parvus crassior apice conicus, alter longior attenuatus.

Translation:
[Sphere ovate-oblong, smooth; with an indistinct median nucleus; distinguished by small, well separated, irregular pores; nucleus uncertain; with each end obtusely spined. Two opposite spines, one small, thicker, conical at the apex, the other longer, thin.  (Translated from Latin by E.M.R. and W.R.R.)]

Size:
Long. tot. sine aculeis 1/34. Cell. discretae in 1/96 fere 3. Long. acul. majoris 1/40, minoris 1/96.
Total length without spines 72 µ. Approx. 3 distinct pores in 23 µ. Length of the larger spine 56 µ, of the smaller 23 µ.
