Original Description

Unter diesen ist Tetralpyle, eine neue Gattung von Polycystinen, ausgezeichnet, dafs die gegitterte, mit einem nucleus verschene Körperschale mit 4 besondern grofsen Offnungen versehen ist, wovon je zwei auf den entgegentgesetzten Seiten des Körpers liegen.

Etymology:
Greek tetrapyle = with four gate-openings"
