Original description: Shell papillate, with obliterated collar stricture. Length of the two joints = 1: 3, breadth = 1: 3. Cephalis hemispherical, with very small and scarce pores, and a conical horn of the same length. Thorax conical, as long as broad, with conical papillæ, and eight to ten transverse rows of roundish pores, gradually increasing in size downwards. Mouth scarcely constricted, with fifteen to twenty divergent, straight, conical feet, half as long as the thorax.
Remarks on original description: There was no illustration of this species in Haeckel (1887)
Haeckel listed Anthocyrtis anthemis under the subgeneric name Anthocyrtarium, but did not include the subgeneric name in the species name.[comment from RadWorld database]
The original concept of Anthocyrtium Ehrenberg included both theoperid and pterocorythid cephalic forms. Anthocyrtidium is in modern usage a pterocorythid genus, and, as the type species mespilus of Anthocyrtis has theoperid cephalis anthemis is in the database placed in Anthocyrtis- dbl
