Catalog entries: Tetrasolenia quadrata
Translated description: [Quadrate form, with the angles truncated by very short tubes; surface with many large pores. Diameter 103 µ, approximately 3 distinct pores in 24 µ. (Translated from Latin by E.M.R. and W.R.R.)]
Remarks on original description: Solenosphaera variabilis in Haeckel, 1887a, p. 113 is a new name for Tetrasolenia quadrata Ehrenberg here arbitrarily intorduced by Haeckel. [invalid name]
Name is subsequently used by Cleve, 1902, p.21[comment from RadWorld database]
Nigrini 1967 - Tetrasolenia quadrata Shell smooth, thin-walled, subspherical, with numerous small irregular pores having no definite arrangement. Pored tubules, 3-8 (usually 5), approximately as long as broad or longer, 0.2-0.3 shell diameter. Tubules cylindrial or subcylindrical, sometimes slightly expanded distally; outer apertures truncated, smooth. Dimenions: Diameter of shell 63-90m. Maximum length of tubules 18-36µm; their maximum breadth 18-27µm.
