Original description: Cortical shell prune-shaped, thick-walled; pores small, circular, tubelike, of uniform size, evenly distributed. Medullary shell consisting of a spiral, dense, spongy disk (plate 1, figures 4, 6) at the center and a loose meshwork (plate 1, figure 5) at the margin. Pylome small circular, and surrounded by 7-12 conical spines of variable lengths.

Major axis of shell 270-342ยต. Minor axis of shell 198-297.Ratio of major axis to minor axis 1.12-1.30.
Remarks on original description: Chen described this species twice - in IRDSDP vol 28 and Micropaleontology part 20/4. Both publications have cover dates of 1974 but actually were published in 1975 and the Micropaleontology volume is generally considered to be the valid publication. The images are typically the same in both, but the text is slighlty different. [JRY 2023]
