Original description: Die von Huxley beobachtete Form, bei der sich die Schale statt der gegitterten Beschaffenheit in wenige querabgeschnittene Röhrchen verlängert (a. a. 0. pl. XVI. Fig. 5.), habe ich nicht gesehen, sie würde aber kaum als eine Varietät der Collosphaera Huxleyi angesehen werden können, wenn alle Schalen in einer Gallert von dieser Beschaffenheit sein sollten, in diesem Falle würde es gerechtfertigt sein, these Form mindestens als eine Art Collosphaera tubulosa? (oder Gattung Siphonosphaera) abzusondern.
