Original description: Shell a regular sphere, everywhere occupied by short cup-like tubules of somewhat different size. In the half meridian of the shell about ten to twelve tubules, nearly cylindrical, but constricted in the middle. Inner and outer aperture of the tubule of the same size; their diameter equal to their length and distance.
Diameter of the shell 0.l to 0.12, length and breadth of the tubules 0.005 to 0.01.
Remarks on original description: Haeckel listed Siphonosphaera cyathina under the subgeneric name Holosiphonia, but did not include the subgeneric name in the species name.
