Description of Family SPHAEROPYLIDA, Dreyer, 1889, p.87:Sphaeroideen mit 1 oder 2 einander gegenüberstehenden Pylomen. Entweder ist die äußere Schale, vom Pylom abgesehen, kugelrund homaxon, oder elliptisch oder oval, monaxon. In letzterem Falle geht dann die Hauptachse durch das Pylom oder bei Anwesenheit von zwei Pylomen durch beide. Die Schale ist entweder glatt oder mit Stacheln versehen, die Anzahl der konzentrischen Schalen ist verschieden. Sphaeroidea with 1 or 2 opposite pylomes. Cortical shell either spherical as seen from pylome, or elliptical or oval, with a single axis. In the last cases the main axis is distributed through the pylome, or the two pylomes when they are present. Shell either smooth or with spines, the number of concentric spines being variable.]
