Original description: Skelet eine kreisrunde oder verschieden gestaltete, flache oder biconvexe schwammige Scheibe mit breiten arm artigen radialen Fortsätzen, die mit der Scheibe in einer Ebene liegen. Diese bestehen, gleich dem äusseren Theile der Scheibe, aus schwammigem Fächerwerk mit regellos gehäuften Kammern, während die Mitte der Scheibe aus kreisrunden concentrischen Ringen von regelmässig geordneten Kammern zusammengesetzt ist.
Translated description: Flat, or biconvex, spongious disc of a circular, or variable, outline with wide arm-shaped radial appendages, in the same plane as the disc. These arms are composed, as the external part of the shell, of a spongious tissue with irregularly distributed chambers, while the centre of the disc presents circular, concentric, rings of regularly distributed chambers.
