Original description: Shell regularly globular and without spines; cortical shell with moderately thick wall, surface with about eight or fewer pores across a radius, pores without hexagonal frames but sunken with thickened rims; secondary medullary shell with large pores and very thick bars connected to the cortical shell by means of six beams, this shell about 0.25 diameter of the cortical shell, primary medullary shell very small, with about six pores across a radius, these pores unequal , subcircular to oval, or droplet-shaped, connected by about six beams to the secondary medullary shell which encloses it.
Remarks on original description: The authors here list this species under the subgeneric name Thecosphaerella and include the subgeneric name in the species name.
