This taxon: Wide conical 2 segmented forms with a small simple subspherical cephalis. External cephalic spines usually cylindrical in cross section, thorax termination usually without a peristome or skirt.
as Theopilida in Haeckel 1881: Tricystida aperta triradiata. De Wever et al. 2001: Hat-shaped to helmet-conical nassellarians consiting usually of two to three segments. Cephalis simple, without ventral tube or well marked arches.
