Taxonomy

Citation: Tholospyris devexa finalis Goll 1973
Taxonomic rank: sub-species

Catalog entries: Tholospyris devexa finalis

Original description: A subspecies of Tholospyris devexa characterized by a diagonal ring of tribladed lattice bars which circumscribes the lattice shell and is joined to the front-apex and back-base of the sagittal ring.
Sagittal ring subpolygonal, 52 to 69 microns high, 51 to 58 microns thick, joined directly to lattice shell. Complete specimens have a slender apical connector bar and no apical or axial spines. Short, vertical spine projecting near base of sagittal ring short, broad, frontal spine. Single tubercle projecting from base of sagittal ring at intersect with primary lateral bars. Pair of slender sagittal ring spines at front-base of sagittal ring. Primary lateral bars joined to lattice shell; no other basal connector bars.
No basal ring. Lattice shell 197 to 224 microns high, 137 to 166 microns wide, completely enclosed, surrounding apex and base of sagittal ring. Slight horizontal constriction of lattice shell at base of sagittal ring. Broad lattice bars separate small, subrounded, lattice pores on the lateral portions of the lattice shell. Three pairs of very large, sagittal, lattice pores are covered by thin, perforate, lattice plates. Portions of lattice shell surrounding apex and base of sagittal ring are composed of delicate, smooth, lattice bars separating many small, subcircular lattice pores. Five tribladed lattice bars are joined to the sagittal ring. Diagonal ring of lattice bars circumscribing lattice shell, joined to front-apex and back-base of sagittal ring. No lattice spines or tubercles.
