Zu den Sonderbarkeiten der neuen Formen gehört, dafs 6 der neuen Genera auffallend Ahnlichkeit mit Pflanzen-Blüthenstaub haben. Dermatosphaera, Disolenia, Mazosphaera, Polysolenia, Trisolenia und Tetrasolenia zeigen diesen Charakter. Einige erscheinen wirklich als nur häutige Gebilde, die sich, wie der Fichten-Blüthenstaub in Tertiärschichten und Kreideschichten öfter deutlich erhalten ist, sehr schwer zerstörbar zeigen. Es gehört dahin auch das in der Mikrogeologie auf Taf. XVI. aus den Bergmehl von Degernfors und Lillhaggjn zweimal abgebildete Thylacium quadratum. Mazosphaera erinnert an Malven Pollen. Doch scheinen diese Ahnlichkeiten mehr irre zu fuhren als erläuternd zu sein. Einige solcher Tiefgrund-Formen haben deutliche netzartige Kieselschaalen, alle haben Poren. [775:773]
