Catalog entries: Stichopilium anocor
Original description: Description: Shell slightly conical with four strictures, those at the bases of the thorax and abdomen undulating; segments approximately equal in length. Cephalis subspherical, porous, with a corona of 5-6 sharp spines of approximately equal length. Three sharp, unlatticed spines or wings extend freely from the collar equal in length to the spines of the corona. Pores regular, rounded. Dimensions: (3 specimens); length: 196-224 µ, Md 216; breadth: 100-116µ, Md 104.
Type locality: 11° N, 155°W, plankton, 125-200 m.
Remarks: This species is most closely related to those in the subgenus Stichopilidium Haeckel, but differs from them by possessing five segments (not 6, 10, or 12), a sub- spherical cephalis with a corona of spines, and three very simple wings. Haeckel does not describe any species with undulating segments. The specific name anocor is an anagram of the word corona.
