Original Description

Gitterschale zweigliederig, die beiden Glieder durch eine tiefe Einschnürung und eine Gitterwand getrennt; das obere Glied rundlich, ringsum mit vielen Stacheln besetzt; das untere schirmförmig, mit starken in Stacheln auslaufeuden Radialbalken, auf denen wieder andere Stacheln stehen. Centralkapsel das erste Glied erfüllend, in das untere mit vier Lappen hinabreichend.
Lattice shell of two segments, the two being separated by a deep stricture and a lattice wall; the upper segment rounded, surrounded with many spines; the lower umbrella shaped, with strong radial beams extending as spines, on which other spines stand. The central capsule fills the first segment, in the lower extends as four lobes. [translation by dbl].

Etymology:

From the Greek arachnè = spider web, and corys= helmet.
