Original Description

Gate ovate. Ring elliptical, smooth, with three prominent, slightly distorted edges, without thorns; in the transverse section triangular.

Size:
Diameter of the gate 0.08 to 0.12; thickness of the ring 0.006 to 0.009.

There was no illustration of this species in Haeckel (1887)
Haeckel listed Archicircus ovalis under the subgeneric name Monostephus, but did not include the subgeneric name in the species name.[comment from RadWorld database]
