Original Description Shell thick walled, fifteen times as broad as one mesh. Pores regular, circular, hexagonally lobed, separated by prominent funnel-shaped crests of half the breadth. Twenty conical radial spines, half as long as the radius, as broad at the base as one funnel.
Diameter of the shell 150µm, pores 10µm, bars 5µm; length of the spines 40µm, basal breadth 20µm. Editors' Notes There was no illustration of this species in Haeckel (1887) Haeckel listed Acanthosphaera enneacantha under the subgeneric name Rhaphidocapsa, but did not include the subgeneric name in the species name.
