Original Description
[Primary shell with some circular pores and reduced bars. At each junction of frames, a thin radial spine bifurcated at a short interval. The resulting branches are also ramified in different sorts and anastomozed as to produce a rather thick, but delicate, spongious network. The suface of the shell is covered by innumerable, thin, and short, radial spines. (In German. Translated by J.P.C.)]

Diameter of primary shell 15µm, of the spongious tissue 220µm; length of the radial spines up to their branching 20µm. Distinguishing characters (rw): Von Haeckel’s Spongopila dichotoma (1884 [sic], pag.
[Differs from Spongopila dichotoma Haeckel (1884 [sic, 1887], pag. 274] by the size of the primary shell (15 instead of 80µm) and the breadth of the spongious tissue (20 instead of 30µm)]
