Original Description
Drei Ellipsoide in einander geschachtelt, deren längste Durchmesser sich verhalten wie 1: 2¼: 4. Die Rindenschalendurchmesser verhalten sich wie 8: 9. Sie ist rauh und sind ihre runden regelmässigen Maschen 1/30 so gross wie der Längsdurchmesser der Schale; mit der ersten innern Markschale ist sie verbunden durch radialbalken, 14 (?) an Zahl, wie auch letztere mit der innersten durch gleiche Radialbalken; die Maschen der ersten Markschale gross und elliptisch.

Surface rough with regular circular pores 1/30 as large as the long axis of the shell, linked with the medullary shell with 14 (?) radial beams, pores on the median shell large and ellipsoidal. Cortical shell axes 150 and 133µm, median shell axes 90 and 73µm, medullary shell axes 38 and 30µm. Cortical shell pores 5µm, ellipsoidal pores of the median shell 15µm, bars width 6µm.
Not common.

Etymology: fenestratus, -a, -um = with window

Premature name in Stöhr, 1878 [2713:515]

According to the description the illustration (pl.3, fig.2) given here might more appropriately appear in the revised species description record for Actinomma crenatum (Ehrenberg) in Stöhr 1880 and the illustration on that record (pl.3, fig.3) appear in this record.
