Original Description
Cortical shell very thick walled, with regular, circular, double-edged pores, twice as broad as the bars. Both medullary shells with simple, small, circular pores, of the same breadth as the bars. Radial proportion of the three spheres = 1: 2: 4; radial spines about twenty, conical, shorter than the radius, prolonged inside into twenty very thin connecting beams (fig. 4).
Diameter of the outer shell 80µm, middle 40µm, inner 20µm; cortical pores 10µm bars 5µm; length of the spines 30µm, basal breadth 10µm.

Haeckel listed Actinomma pachyderma under the subgeneric name Actinommetta, but did not include the subgeneric name in the species name.
[presumably Quaternary, though at least one form (Lithochytris lucerna) reported from this station appears to be Eocene - Riedel and Sanfilippo, 1970, p.506, 528]]
