Original Description
Generalized. three-segmented pterocorythids. with pores of the thorax similar to those of the abdomen, no differentiated peristome. and no appendages (feet or wings).

Etymology: The generic name is a modification of the word ""Albatross" the name of the vessel used by the Swedish Deep Sea Expedition, that collected the deep-sea material on the basis of which the three-lobed structure of the pterocorythid cephalis was established
