Original Description
The elongated, inflated, biconvex, wide skeleton with two apophyses consists of numerous inner concentric chambered shells (up to 9 in the central part) and two gradually widening, opposite, chambered apophyses which extend from the first inner spherical shell. The apophyses from the middle of the skeleton to the distal ends have chambered girdles; the distal ends of the apophyses are wide. There is a conical aperure at the end of one of the apophyses. The shells are connected by short bars.

Translation: In Russian. Translation via W.R.Riedel]

Etymology: From the Greek ""amphi"" = two, and ""caryo"" = nut.
