Original Description
Shell rough with a thick wall (5µ). Shell diameter 50-80µ. 5-8 pores on half the equator. Thin thorns on pore frames. 8-10 main spines. Width of the bases of spines approximately 10µ. Apophyses growing on main spines at intervals pf 40-50µ. (In Russian. Translation by J.P.C.) Distinguishing characters (rw): This N. subsp. differs from the nominal species only by its smaller dimensions and the delicate structure of all parts. However, due to the low variability of this form and its wide distribution, I think that it is possible to erect a new subspecies. Phylogeny (rw): The question of the transition of A. dentata dentata from A. dentata eocenica remains open. In the Atlantic Ocean and the Norwegian Sea, during the Eocene, many forms close to A. dentata eocenica, were differentiated, but they differ by slightly larger and more variable shells, a larger number of pores and less developed radial spines. It is possible that the genus Anomalacantha and other close Macosphaeridae took shape at that time.

Etymology: [Probably related to its stratigraphical extensions]
