Original Description

Microsphère : 28-30µm environ. Coque corticale épaisse (30µm) et d'un diamètre de 150µm. Sept à huit spicules cylindriques grêles dépassant largement la coque corticale (portion libre des spicules : 75µm). Des épines dispersées sur toute la coque, droites ou courbes (longueur : 45µm environ). Capsule centrale sphérique (85µm). Fusules globuleuses, peu nombreuses. Endoplasme très vacuolisé sous la membrane capsulaire, plus dense autour du noyau et de l'axoplaste. A ce niveau, s'observent de très nombreuses sphérules éosinophiles. Calotte nucléaire très épaisse, faiblement arquée. L'axoplaste en matérialise le centre. Il est sphérique. Les axopodes qui en partent sont groupés en faisceaux aplatis, nettement individualisés qui évoquent chacun une feuille de Chamerops. Pas de cytoplasme axoflagellaire. Xanthelles absentes.

A single specimen collected in March at 200m at depth in Bay of algiers. Abundant in plankton off Villefranche sur Mer at 1500 and 1000m.
