Original description: 2b. Tribus: Staurocyclida. Coccodiscida aculeata, aculeis marginalibus in plano aequatoriali sitis et e margine lentis radiantibus (sed sine brachiis cameratis).
D. aculeis multis marginalibus (quinque aut pluribus, plerumque sine ordine radiantibus).

Translated description: 2b. Tribe: Staurocyclida. Spined Coccodiscida, with marginal spines situated in the equatorial plane and radiating from the margin of the lens (but without chambered arms).
