Original Description

Shell smooth, with two distinct strictures. Length of the three joints = 1: 2: 2, breadth = 1: 4: 3. Cephalis ovate, with a large, triangular, prismatic horn of three times the length. Thorax hemispherical; abdomen cylindrical; both with regular, circular pores of equal size. Mouth truncate, with a corona of nine to twelve vertical, lamellar feet, which are as long as the abdomen, rectangular, twice as broad as their distance apart, and truncate at the end.

Length of the three joints, a 30 to 40µm, b 60 to 80µm, c 40 to 60µm; breadth, a 30 to 40µm, b 90 to 110µm, c 80 to 100µm.

Editors' Notes
Haeckel listed Calocyclas veneris under the subgeneric name Calocycletta, but did not include the subgeneric name in the species name.
Although Haeckel indicates that this species was found in surface samples, Riedel, 1957, p.92 states that he "...has not found any form approximating to Haeckel's description and figure in any sediments considered to be purely Recent... p.1381, pl.74, fig.5
