Original Description
[Shell pyramidal, with a contorniate outline, bearing partly ramified thorns on its upper part, that apparently bear an external lattice shell (as in Peripyramis and Spongopyramis), without any cephalis structure. Sharp end of the shell with 2 divergent, strongly spinulated horns usually longer than 550µm. Approximately 40 longitudinal beams progressively thinning downwardly from the top end that are crossed near the summit of the shell by parallel transversal beams, and in the basal part of the shell, by transversal and oblique beams as to form an irregular meshwork. (This structure resembles the anticlines and periclines of vegetation cones). The numerous irregularities observed in the junctions of the beams are analogous to those presented by the monster form of Aulosphaeridae illustrated on pl.45). Approximately on the middle part of the shell, originate from some (at least 3) radial beams and at an acute angle, cylindrical, curved and slightly spinulate spines that are anastomosed to the shell by a large portion of latticed tissue. On the apex of the shell the openings are crossed by delicate, mostly perpendicularly intertwined, threads, originating from the inner parts of the beams (not as the mesh plate on the surface of Plectopyramis polypleura), sometimes overpassing more openings and beams. (In German. Translated by J.P.C.)]
