Original Description

Polycystinum solitarium ex Eucyrtidinis. Loricae siliceae biarticulatae articulus superior continuo cellulosus tricostatus, inferior amplior late apertus, e solis costis productis media parte non connexis, extremo fine solummodo cellularum fascia connexis,

Lychnocanium refert, secundi articuli parietibus nullis.


Translation:
Clathrocanium. Solitary polycystin, of the Eucyrtidinae. Siliceous shell 2-segmented, the upper segment continuously porous and tricostate, the lower broader and widely open, formed of the extended ribs and not connected in the median part, but with a connection at the end formed by a porous girdle.

Resembles Lychnocanium, but with no wall of the second segment. (Translated from Latin by E.M.R. and W.R.R.)]

Etymology:
From the Greek klethra = network and kaneon = basket.
