Original Description

Central capsules spherical, very large, opaque, distended with red pigment-granules and with very numerous (two hundred to three hundred) small oil-globules. Membrane thick, double-edged.

Diameter of the central capsules 0.3 to 0.5. [dimensions in mm]

There was no illustration of this species in Haeckel (1887)
Haeckel listed Collozoum nostochinum under the subgeneric name Collodinium, but did not include the subgeneric name in the species name.
