Original Description

1e. Tribus: Heliosphaerida. Monosphaeria polycantha (aculeis multis -- octo vel pluribus --, plerumque sine ordine dispersis).
C. aculeis basi inflatis, clathratis
Cl. aculeis basi conica.

Translation:
1e. Tribe: Heliosphaerida. Many-spined Monosphaeria (with many spines, eight or more, generally arranged without order).
C. With the spines inflated at the base, and latticed.
CI. With the bases of the spines conical. (Translated from Latin by E.M.R. and W.R.R.)]

Etymology:
From the Greek conosphaera = sphere with cones"
