Original description: Cephalis hemispherical, with small, circular pores, bearing two three-bladed spines; apical spine twice length of cephalis; vertical spine short. Thorax conical in the upper part, inflated conical or conical in the lower part, with a distinct change in contour. Thoracic pores circular to subcircular, and arranged in transverse rows; pore sizes increasing slightly, with a marked change in size at place where change in contour occurs. Abdomen cylindrical or slightly dilated cylindrical, wider than thorax, separated from the thorax by a distinct change in contour, with 2-4 rows of circular to subcircular pores of uniform dimension. Shell closed by a sieve plate.
(Dimensions: Based on 30 specimens from 266-18-3, 51-53cm.; 266-17-4, 50-52cm.; and 266-15-3, 50-52 cm.) Length of shell (excluding apical horn) 103-131µm. Maximum width of abdomen 102-113µm. Distinguishing characters (rw): This species differs from Lophocyrtis regipileus Chen, n. sp., in having a more delicate thoracic wall and a wider abdomen, from Theocalyptra bicornis (Popofsky) in having an abdomen of more cylindrical shape.
