Remarks on original description: Solenosphaera variabilis in Haeckel, 1887a, p. 113 is a new name for Tetrasolenia quadrata Ehrenberg here arbitrarily intorduced by Haeckel. [invalid name]

Name is subsequently used by Cleve, 1902, p.21[comment from RadWorld database]
