Original description: Gitterschale zweigliedrig; das untere Gleid flach kegelförmig, ist an seiner weiten, runden unteren Mündung mit einem Kranze von Stacheln umgeben und geht nach oben allmählig in das wenig abgesetzte, durch keine scharfe Einschnürung getrennte, kopfförmig obere Glied über, das einen oder mehrere Stacheln trägt. Centralkapsel bis zur Mitte das Gehäuses herabhängend, unten in 4 ungleiche Lappen gespalten.

Translated description: Two-segmented latticed shell; lower segment flattened conical, widening to a circular inferior opening surrounded by a crown of spines and progressively passing, through a weak loose stricture, into a globular upper segment, not well-marked, and with one or more spines. Central capsule hanging nearly at the centre of the shell, and divided below into 4 different lobes. (In German. Translation by J.P.C.)]
