Catalog entries: Excentrococcus annulatus
Original description: Discoidal shell consisting of a double medullary shell surrounded by one to four circular rings lying in the equatorial plane and pierced by an indefinite number of radial beams.
Remarks on original description: The species is very rare in the Lower and Upper Badenian of the Central Paratethys but rather frequent specimens with three or four external rings have been remarked in the Miocene and Pliocene at site 206 of DSDP. In the Lower Badenian at Ameis only one specimen with a single external ring has been found (Pl. 2, fig. 12) whereas several specimens with one and two rings have been recorded in the Upper Badenian of Romania (Pl. 5, figs. 19, 23).
