Original description: Shell thin walled, with smooth surface. Pores irregular, polygonal, four to eight times as broad as the bars; eleven to thirteen on the radius. Six spines hexagonal pyramidal, as long as the radius, about three times as broad at the base as one pore.
Remarks on original description: Haeckel listed Hexastylus dimensivus under the subgeneric name Hexastylissus, but did not include the subgeneric name in the species name.[comment from RadWorld database]
