Original description: Shell thin walled, with smooth surface. Pores irregular, polygonal, three to six times as broad as the bars; four to six on the radius. Six spines triangular pyramidal, as long as the diameter of the shell, as broad at the base as one pore.
Remarks on original description: Haeckel listed Hexastylus triaxonius under the subgeneric name Hexastylissus, but did not include the subgeneric name in the species name.[comment from RadWorld database]
